Grandma Flo's Carmel Cheesecake Custard

INGREDIENTS

2/3 cups caramel flavored ice cream topping
1 lrg. pkg. 8oz cream cheese (room temperature)
1 tsp vanilla
6 eggs
2 cups whole milk.

PREPARATION


Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Pour caramel topping into 1 ½ in. deep, 9in. round, and greased pan; set aside.

In a large bowl, beat the crème cheese until smooth; beat in the sugar and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating at a medium speed until smooth for each addition.

Blend in milk at low speed. Carefully pour cheese mixture over caramel topping.

Set cake pan into larger pan; such as a roasting pan. Add ½ in. to ¾ in. boiling water to the larger pan.

NOTES:
Prior to placing custard into oven, Grandma only puts a small amount of custard in the pan. Once at the oven pour the rest of the custard into the pan and bake. This prevents spillage.

COOKING


Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until set in the center.

Cool custard on a rack, and then loosen from pan edge with a knife. Invert onto a rimmed serving plate; spoon over any remaining caramel. Chill for 20 minutes.
